Part-time Private Practice Commercial Dispute Lawyer, Milton Keynes, flexible hours, circa 20-30 hours, with some remote working, up to £45k fte pro rata (ref: MK94/1746)
Our client is a legal practice based in Furzton Lake, Milton Keynes run by two Directors. They focus on providing companies with commercial legal advice and assisting with commercial disputes, as well as having strong practice areas in construction disputes (including adjudication and court claims) and HMRC disputes (including VAT/ excise duty & penalty disputes, excise license disputes and money laundering regulations).
Due to strong business growth they are now seeking a commercial dispute solicitor to join their small, friendly team. This role would suit a candidate who can not only manage their own caseload but would also like to play a part in strategic business development and growth. The candidate would be a self-starter with commercial acumen and a solid background in general commercial litigation. They must be able to manage their own caseload including attending any required client meetings and liaising with Counsel.
The ideal candidate will be someone with good attention to detail, strong litigation skills and clear commercial awareness. Common sense and commercial acumen are essential. The role offers a lot of scope for future career development as our client is an expanding business and is looking for the right candidates to join their team.
In exchange, the right candidate will be offered a competitive salary of up to £45k depending on experience, lots of flexibility around working hours and pattern and the possibility of some working from home supported by cloud based IT and phone systems.
The successful candidate will be a robust and commercially focused general commercial litigation solicitor. They will be at least 2yrs PQE and will be responsible for their own caseload as well as assisting the directors where required.
A solid understanding of a variety of general commercial litigation is essential, as is a requirement to offer a commercially minded solution to any issue at hand. Good IT skills required. The core areas the role will cover are:
- contract disputes (including breach of contract, debt claims etc) and related negligence claims
- property disputes
- Commercial advice
In addition to core commercial litigation experience the candidate should be a good communicator who is both keen to develop skills in new areas and focused on achieving the best outcomes for their clients. They should also be commercially minded and be willing to work with the directors to drive the company’s continued growth with construction and various HMRC disputes.
The role is seeking a minimum of 25 hours worked within core hours of 9-5.30am but the working pattern can be set depending on the candidates requirements. A salary of up to £45k fte is on offer depending on experience (pro rata for hours worked). There are 28 days holiday (pro rata) and a workplace pension. The role is based in a lovely office environment with parking and kitchen on site.
