As the Marketing Manager for Water in the UKIMEA (UK, India, Middle East and Africa) and globally, you will be responsible for supporting the Water Business with professional marketing support. You will be an integral part of helping the businesses to win work with existing, unmaintained and new clients through understanding of the marketplace and the creation and delivery of an effective client and marketing strategy. The role will require a sound understanding of our clients and businesses, the business development process, communications skills and strong working relationships within Arup to develop all aspects of Arup’s position in the marketplace.
The post holder will report to the Head of Marketing and Communications, UKIMEA, with a second reporting line to the Business Leader for Water who will provide the day to day steer and direction.
The Marketing Manager will be required to work directly with senior leadership, directors, project and business leaders, business development officers, marketers and contract staff, so should be comfortable working with staff at all levels. The role will need to work closely with the other Business Marketers in the Region and Globally.
Help Arup to win work with existing, unmaintained and potential clients in the Water Business
Help set out the Water Vision and Strategy and to prepare marketing action plans for the business in line with this vision
Develop a marketing plan in consultation with the leadership and in response to the objectives that support work winning activity and brand profiling
Understand the Water business thoroughly, keeping up to date regularly on changes in the industry that will have an impact on our future work – and engaging leadership on these changes to be able to adapt activity being undertaken
To provide industry analysis through existing knowledge, supplemented by primary and secondary research when required
Understand and interpret the key client issues of the Water Business – and interpret these into marketing campaigns alongside Business Leadership. Deliver these campaigns in line with the marketing plan.
Manage campaign and message development, including content creation, thought-leadership, collateral development, online content, event management and awards entries
Develop internal communications programmes to engage staff across the Globe and update on key initiatives and successes
Support events across the globe, where we are participating or have an opportunity to raise our profile
Be a key driver of our CRM system, ensuring the Businesses can use it to their advantage
If required put a strategic client feedback programme in place to ensure we are looking after our key Water clients
Provide feedback on the success of marketing activities in your business and develop new ideas based on feedback
Understand and utilise tools available to the Businesses e.g. The Journal, The Design Book as a route to marketing activity
Coordination of presentations and other business development material for client meetings
Track and report on the pipeline (leads, possible projects, bid stage, reasons for winning/losing) to the Business Leadership and suggest actions that need to be undertaken to improve
Requirements and skills
- Has achieved CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing
- Ideally be degree qualified (Marketing specific or Business with Marketing)
- Proven experience in the field of marketing in a professional environment and/or marketing in the energy sector
- Advanced written skills is essential
- Strong communication, reporting and organisational skills
- Must be a team player
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple on-going activities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proven commercial awareness
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
