Royal Mail MarketReach is recruiting now for two Direct Mail Media Specialists. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic team and increase Royal Mail’s share of the advertising market. These are truly entrepreneurial roles which will provide you with the scope to develop initiatives with a wide range of advertisers across all markets, helping them drive results through the impactful and effective use of Direct Mail (DM).
MarketReach is Royal Mail's specialist DM (Letters) business. We’re here to support businesses and agencies by providing mail intelligence and marketing solutions to help them get the very best out of their marketing campaigns. It’s easy to think that the media world has gone digital! But there are many different ways to reach people and it’s knowing why and how to use each one that really matters.
About the role
As a Media Specialist for MarketReach, you’ll be working with the UK's leading advertisers (UK based companies and agencies, from major advertisers to SME’s) to exploit the value of direct mail, door drops, and data to enhance their marketing communications and deliver their business objectives. Working from home, you’ll make regular customer visits, supported by, and working closely with a fantastic team of Data Planners, Media Planners, Media Specialists, channel partners and other key stakeholders.
Based in the London / South East / Home Counties North region, you’ll be working closely with end clients and selling direct to marketing agencies. You may have previous experience as a Data Account Manager or Direct Marketer, and will have a solid background in DM, preferably client-side. Alternatively, you may be more suited to our national role; predominantly based in North London and the wider area (including the Midlands), working with agencies and selling through them. To truly excel in this role you’ll have strong experience with advertising agencies.
At the heart of both roles, you’ll be developing robust relationships and a reputation with decision makers in a range of top UK companies, building your own pipeline of opportunity in your geography. You’ll utilise personal networks of contacts that can influence the use of DM and door drops in your portfolio of clients, and set up strategic alliances where there is mutual value. You’ll identify short and long term opportunities to provide new Royal Mail revenue streams through your media and advertising expertise, and knowledge of the DM market place and other complimentary media. Strategically minded, you’ll identify market trends and opportunities to sell both standardised and new DM and door drop products.
An accomplished and tenacious sales person, you’ll have a successful career history within media, preferably supported by formal marketing qualifications. As a direct marketing practitioner with a broad range of business skills, you’ll have an excellent understanding of how DM and door drops work within a balanced media strategy, and be comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders at a senior level.
With a strong network of external strategic influencers, you’ll be recognised as thought leader within the DM industry. With exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, you’ll have the ability to engage and influence at board level in large organisations. With the ability to close sales quickly and effectively, you’ll have demonstrable examples of planning and efficiently managing a balanced portfolio of opportunities.
